The Edo State Government and the Benin Chamber for Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (BENCCIMA) has waived the registration fee for traders participating in the Edo Trade Fair 2019, noting that the move was necessary to encourage more businesses to showcase their products and services at the fair.
The fair organised by the state government in collaboration with BENCCIMA, and Edo State Ministry of Wealth Creation and Cooperatives, will be opened on 12th November 2019, by Governor Godwin Obaseki, as part of activities lined up for Alaghodaro 2019, held to mark the governor’s third-year office.
The Fair holds at the Trade Fair grounds on Aerodrome Close, Ekehuan Road, Benin City, the Edo State capital, from November 9 to 25, 2019.
According to the Head, Edo State Investment and Promotion Office, Kelvin Uwaibi, the trade fair has been made open to present entrepreneurs and traders in the state the opportunity to showcase their products to a wider audience so as to spur economic activities in the region.
He assured that the fair would attract local and international businesses to stimulate commerce as well as local, bilateral and multilateral business collaborations in the state.
“We opening up the Trade Fair to all traders in Edo State, at no cost to them. They are free to showcase their products and services to Edo people, who will be trooping in their numbers to the Fair. We also expect international businesses and visitors too. Over 5,000 visitors from within and outside the country, including businessmen, investors, customers, government officials and representatives of important trading houses and those seeking joint-venture partnerships would be in attendance.
“We needed to make registration free so that traders and entrepreneurs can fully harness the huge potentials of the conference. We are expecting domestic and foreign investors for the diversification of our economy and the welfare of our people.”
Uwaibi said the state government has done a lot to promote entrepreneurship in the state, adding that the fair would present an opportunity for businesses, in the state to form alliances and increase productivity.
He added, “The Governor Godwin Obaseki-led state government is committed to improving the ease of doing business, repositioning of the public service for effective delivery and accelerating infrastructure development for a land of golden opportunities. This is a great opportunity for our entrepreneurs and traders to key into this vision and grow their business.”
